Two paramedics stabbed while answering call at house in Wolverhampton

A man has been arrested after two paramedics were stabbed during a call-out to a home in Wolverhampton, said police.

Emergency services were called to the property in Stephens Close, in the Ashmore area of the city, at around 12.15pm on Monday following concerns over the welfare of a man.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, two paramedics were stabbed. The crew used their emergency alert to call for assistance following the attack, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Colleagues rushed to the scene to treat both paramedics along with a man who was Tasered by police. The paramedics were taken to hospital for further treatment but it was not immediately clear what condition they are currently in.

West Midlands Police confirmed a suspect has been arrested.

In a statement, West Midlands Ambulance Service said: ‘Three additional ambulances, two Midlands Air Ambulances and the West Midlands Care Team attended the scene along with three paramedic officers.

‘The two members of staff, both paramedics, have been treated at the scene by doctors and paramedics and have been taken to hospital for further treatment.

‘A man who was Tasered by police officers at the scene has also been treated by ambulance staff.’
