Two men arrested for ‘abduction’ after teenage girls found in car

The investigation led to unmarked police cars stopping a vehicle on Shannon Road, Longhill, in Humberside on Tuesday evening. The girls were found in the back of the car.

HullLive reported that two men, aged 18 and 19, from West Yorkshire, had been arrested at the scene and remain in police custody.

A woman who saw the fallout of the accident shortly before 9.30pm whilst on her way to the shops said the incident was “very distressing”.

The woman added: “I didn’t see everything but what I did see was awful. Unmarked police cars were there and officers were arresting a man outside Booze Blitz.

“Thankfully, a girl was able to be reunited with her dad after she had gone missing.”

Police confirmed that both teenagers have been returned “safely” back to their families.

A spokesperson said: “Officers began investigating following a report received on Sunday night (16 April) that a teenage girl was missing. Following initial lines of enquiry, it was established she was with another teenage girl and they were both identified as potentially being in the West Yorkshire area yesterday (Monday, 17 April).

“Further enquiries were carried out in West Yorkshire, which led the investigation back to the Humberside area, where a car was stopped last night on Shannon Road, in Hull, and the two girls were found sat in the back of the vehicle.

“They have both been returned home safely to their families. Two men, 18 and 19 years old, from West Yorkshire were arrested at the scene on suspicion of child abduction and remain in our custody assisting officers with enquiries.”
