Two Britons have died in a car crash in Malia, on the Greek island of Crete.

A man and woman died instantly, with another woman suffering serious injuries, according to local reports.

An 18-year-old man in the car is not believed to be seriously injured.

The early morning accident happened on the northern coast of the island on Monday.

Reports suggest the four passengers were travelling in a rented 4×4 which collided with a stationary motorcycle at around 6am local time.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the families of three British people involved in a car accident in Crete, and are in contact with local authorities.”
