Tamby Dowling, 36, suffered stab injuries after she had been attacked on a street in Oldham, Greater Manchester, and, despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene. A 16-year-old girl also required hospital treatment but has since been released.

But officers have today charged Abid Mahmood, 34, with her murder and with a section 18 wounding offence.

He’ll appear in court today, reports Manchester Evening News.

Emergency services were called to the reports a woman had been attacked at around 7pm on Monday November 8.

Ms Dowling, a mum of six, had several stab wounds.

Paying tribute to the woman, her grief-stricken family said she was a “kind-hearted, outgoing” mother.

In an emotional statement, they said: “She was outgoing, kind-hearted, generous, and had time for everyone.

“Her door was always open, her home was filled with visitors, and her kettle was always just boiled.

“She leaves behind six devastated children who she adored. She leaves behind her devastated brothers, sisters, mother, father, stepdad, and stepmum. She had a large family, who are all heartbroken.

“Tamby will leave a huge hole and massive impact on all the family.

“She touched the lives of countless people — the hole she has left will never be filled and our hearts are broken.”
