Tragedy as mother killed and baby left fighting for life after two-car crash

The driver, in her 40s, was travelling on the A518 New Trench Road, near Telford, Shropshire when the accident occurred. The crash took place at around 6.20pm on Saturday. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her Mini was involved in a crash with a Fiat 500X.
This second car had a baby on board, aged just 19 months.
She survived the crash but remains in critical condition, according to the Mirror.
Thankfully, passers-by were on hand to perform CPR on the girl until emergency services arrived.
Helpers are reported to have included a paramedic and firefighter, both off-duty.
Upon their arrival, emergency services took the baby to the paediatric major trauma centre at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
At the time of the accident, a man and woman were left trapped inside the same car.
They suffered numerous injuries and were also taken to hospital.

Their injuries have been described as “serious” but are not believed to be life-threatening.
West Mercia police thanked the members of the public who supported those injured while emergency services were en route.
They have also appealed for any information on the incident.

In a statement, the service said: “Officers are asking anyone who was travelling on the A518 New Trench Road at the time who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage to get in touch.
“Anyone with information or footage is asked to visit Tell us about or call 101 quoting incident number 523i of February 12, 2022.”
It added: “Alternatively if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
“It is 100 percent anonymous, they never ask your name and they cannot trace your call or IP address.”
