Tragedy as body found in search for missing 14-year-old boy

A body has been found by officers searching for a missing 14-year-old boy.

Eric Lin was reported as missing from the Greater Manchester area. Police believed he could have caught a bus into Cheshire.

Cheshire Constabulary shared a number of appeals since Eric disappeared on Sunday, July 2.

But Greater Manchester Police confirmed a body has in Warrington. Formal identification is yet to take place, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Police said there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and that Eric’s family have been informed.

A spokesperson said: “Greater Manchester Police can confirm that sadly a body has been found this afternoon (Thursday 6 July) in the Warrington area of Cheshire. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances. A formal identification is yet to take place, but Eric’s family have been informed of the latest development.”

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies of GMP City of Manchester North district said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with Eric’s loved ones at this difficult time. Formal identification is yet to take place, so we would ask that they have privacy whilst the investigation continues.”
