A tour boat capsized while inside a cave in upstate New York, sparking an emergency rescue effort to save the passengers.

The boat overturned on Monday around 11.25am in Lockport Cave, police said.

Multiple agencies including the Lockport police and fire departments ‘are currently working to assist parties that were on a boat that capsized in the Lockport Cave tours,’ stated the Lockport Police Department on Facebook.

‘Crews are working to assist all parties safely out of the area.’
