Tory issues Theresa May with DAMNING European elections forecast – ‘ZERO seats for us’

Brexiteer politician Daniel Hannan has suggested the “anger” Britons are feeling over the British Government’s failure to deliver Brexit could cost the Conservative Party their position. Theresa May has been warned the European elections could turn out to be catastrophic for the party based on their performance at the latest local election – during which 1,334 councillors lost their seats amid the Brexit extension backlash. Speaking to talkRadio, Mr Hannan forecast an even worse result for his party: “There’s a perfectly realistic scenario where we get zero seats.

“You’re then in a sort of Canada 1993 territory, where the centre-right is out of office for 15 years but with a rather important difference.

“Some re-configured centre-right party will come back but in Canada, in the intervening period, they had a relatively moderate liberal government.”

Mr Hannan also admitted being concerned about the possibility of Jeremy Corbyn taken over the leadership of the country in the event of additional poll failure.

He continued: “We are looking at a prolonged period in office from a Marxist party whose leader regrets the outcome of the Cold War. It’s not something we’ve ever had in Britain.

“Just the thought of Jezza running the Brexit talks, that on its own is a scary enough idea.

“That’s why I’d ask people to think of what the real-world consequences are if we come out of this European election with a strong Labour showing and a very weak Conservative one.”

The latest YouGov survey of voter intentions for the European elections puts the Tories trailing in fifth place behind the eurosceptic Brexit Party, Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Green Party.

The poll of 2,212 voters conducted between May 8 and May 9 on behalf of the Times put the Brexit Party at 34 percent while the Prime Minister was projected to win a meager 10 percent of the vote

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has announced the Brexit Party has passed 100,000 registered supporters in five weeks.

Members paid £25 each to sign up, raising £2.5 million for the former UKIP leader’s new political group.

Mr Farage thanked members and said it was “the most amazing grassroots support that’s ever been seen in this period of time in British politics.”

In a video posted on Twitter he said: “Now we’ve got about a week to go until polling day.

“If we keep going at this rate, we’ll be bigger than the Conservative Party.”

The UK will take part in European elections on May 23 after the Prime Minister agreed to a further extension of the Brexit deadline in April.

After failing to get parliament’s approval three times for the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal, the Government will now put the bill, legislation which will enact that deal, before Parliament for a vote in early June.
