Officers led the woman away from Windsor Castle and St George’s Chapel after the incident. The woman ran onto the road shouting “save the planet” after the crowd began clapping following the minute’s silence for the Duke of Edinburgh. It has been reported the woman then jumped onto a statue of Queen Victoria before police officers took her away from the scene on Castle Hill in Windsor.
At 3 pm there was a minute’s silence for Prince Philip across the nation.
The whole of the United Kingdom fell silent for a minute of reflection ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle.
Pupils at the Duke of Edinburgh’s former school, Gordonstoun School, in northern Scotland stood in silence for Prince Philip.
The Gordonstoun School bell tolled slowly to mark the start of a minute’s silence for Prince Philip, and a Scottish piper played bagpipes.
