Tommy Robinson PUNCHES England fan to the ground in horrific attack at Nations League game

The assault took place in the city of Guimareas, where the far-right political activist was watching the Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands with several of his supporters. In footage obtained by Mirror Online, the failed MEP candidate, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is seen outside the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques stadium, wearing a camouflage jacket and mixing with fans. One man puts puts his arm around Robinson, before raising his fist in the air.

An inaudible exchange between two groups appears to escalate as the 36-year-old walks towards a fan and punches him in the face.

The assaulted man, wearing an England away football shirt, can be seen lying on the ground and struggling to get back to his feet as friends come to his aid.

One male approaches Robinson and says: “There’s no need for that, is there?”

A voice, thought to be Robinson’s, responds: “You’ll get knocked out again bruv.”

Following a brief pause, a man says: “F*** about again, you’ll get knocked out again bruv.”

Supports can be heard encouraging Robinson, shouting: “Go on Tommy lad.”

In a selfie video posted on Wednesday, Robinson said he was in Portugal for the crunch England game.

Chillingly Robinson, wearing the same jacket as in the video, winks at the camera and says: “I’m in Portugal at the game. No football banning order here mate.”

This remark is in reference to a banning order he was given in 2016 to prevent him from attending the Euro 2016 football tournament.

In a separate video published on social media on Wednesday, Robinson is at Stansted Airport wearing the same jacket, when a bystander approaches him and asks if he knows where the prayer room is.

Robinson is a convicted football hooligan, having led a group of 100 Luton Town fans in a violent clash with supporters of Newport County in 2010.

The build-up to the football match on Thursday night was dominated by violence between England fans and Portuguese police.

On Wednesday night, two England fans were arrested after clashing with riot police, while two officers were injured.

Deputy Chief Constable Mark Roberts, head of the UK football policing unit, admitted the Football Association’s efforts to prevent trouble had failed.

Around 18,000 England supporters travelled to Portugal for the Nations League finals, which finish on Sunday evening.
