Thunderstorms to hit UK tomorrow as warning issued over possible floods
More flooding could be on the way as a thunderstorm warning has been issued across large swathes of the UK.
The Met Office says a number of areas could be hit by torrential showers from midday tomorrow.
It could mean delayed train services, perilous driving conditions, temporary loss of power and homes and businesses being flooded.
Forecasters say some places could see around 20mm of rain in less than an hour and 30-40 mm in a couple of hours.
Yellow thunderstorm warnings are in place for most of England, except for London, much of the South East and the southwestern tip of the country.
The western half of Wales is also inside the warning zone, as well as a large chunk of Northern Ireland.

Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin said: ‘This weekend promises some pretty wet conditions. It won’t rain all weekend, but when it is raining, that rain could be heavy.
He said there’ll be some warmth, especially in eastern areas on Saturday morning, which could bring quite a humid feel as rain comes in later in the day.
Mr Deakin added: ‘You could see those temperatures jumping up perhaps into the mid-20s, but that’s the exception rather than the rule.’
While there’ll be plenty of storm clouds over the country, he said the southwest of England could expect some sunny spells by Saturday afternoon.
Better weather is expected next week, as a warm front coming in on Monday expected to bring temperatures as high as 27°C in some places.
Some forecaster were predicting a ‘mini-heatwave’ to mark the Bank Holiday at the end of August.
But the Met Office have rained on this particular parade and says the month is likely to end as drearily as ever.
Forecaster Steven Keates told the Sun: ‘This summer is not going to be remembered for warmth. It’s been very bland.
‘We’ve had flooding, some parts of the country have seen double their average rainfall and temperatures have been unremarkable.
‘It’s been wishy-washy to say the least – and that’s how it’s going to end.’
