Three people rushed to hospital after explosion at house
Three people have been taken to hospital after an explosion at a home in West Yorkshire.
Six houses were evacuated nearby the property in Illingworth, near Halifax, following the blast shortly before 7.30am.
Firefighters continue to tackle ‘pockets of fire’ this morning. The extent of the victim’s injuries is not yet known.
One local said she could feel the ground shake underneath her one mile away, while a woman living in Denholme, three miles north, heard the blast, YorkshireLive reports.
It is thought the home where the explosion occurred was occupied by a couple and their son.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said crews were likely to be on the scene for some time while an investigation is carried out.
The service said everyone caught up in the blast is now accounted for.
More to follow.
