Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The victim, in his 30s, was found unresponsive inside a property in Rayleigh, Essex, shortly before 1am.

Despite the efforts of paramedics to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 39-year-old local man, and two women, aged 23 and 25, were then arrested on suspicion of murder.

A local woman was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

In a statement, Essex Police said: ‘We believe that all parties involved were known to each other.

‘We’d like to thank neighbours in the area who were incredibly calm and helpful on scene this morning.’
