Three members of one family injured in 'targeted' incident in which three cars 'drove at them'
THREE members of the one family have been injured after up to three cars drove at them in a “targeted” incident linked to an ongoing Longford feud.
Shortly after 4pm gardai were alerted to an incident in the Annaly carpark in the town where three people, including a teenage girl were injured.
The trio suffered various injuries but non are suspected of being life-threatening.
Gardai at this stage believe that up to three vehicles purposely drove at the victims and crashed into them, before fleeing the scene.
The injured persons are all members of the same family. The eldest male is 47, while the younger man is aged in his mid 20s and the female is 18-years-old.
A source told Independent.ie: “This appears to be a targeted incident and the vehicles were deliberately driven at the three family members.
“Gardai suspect it Is linked to an ongoing feud between members of the travelling community in the county.”
It is understood the victims made their way from the local court house to the carpark before the incident occurred.
Gardai at Longford are appealing for any witnesses to the hit and run incident to contact them.
A feud in the county between two families has been ongoing in recent months which has seen several violent attacks.
