Prince Harry praised young Britons “for surviving but also for thriving” in a video message shared from his home in Los Angeles. The Duke of Sussex marked the broadcasting on YouTube of the OnSide Awards ceremony he attended in mid-November last year by publishing a message of hope and support dedicated to children supported by his patronage, the Onside Youth Zones.

In the video, Prince Harry recalled the awards taking place in mid-November – the last royal engagement he took part in before starting a six-week break in Canada with his family.

Recalling the people he met and stories he heard at the London ceremony, the Duke of Sussex renewed his praises for the youngsters supported by the OnSide Youth Zones association.

He said: “Hi guys, just a few months ago we were all together at the OnSide Youth Zones Awards and wow, what a night that was.

“I remember meeting so many incredible people and hearing your stories, stories of strength, determination, resilience – but ultimately, of courage.

“And as I have said you on that night, and I will repeat it again, hats off to every single one of you for surviving, but also for thriving.

This praise echoes the words pronounced by Meghan during her interview with Tom Bradby broadcasted as part of the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

Opening up on the struggles of constantly being under the public scrutiny, the Duchess of Sussex told the ITV journalist: “I’ve said for a long time to H—that’s what I call him—it’s not enough to just survive something, right?

“That’s not the point of life.

“You’ve got to thrive, you’ve got to feel happy.”
