Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton is set to go head to head this weekend with Max Verstappen they are set to battle it out in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton enters the final race on Sunday level on points with Max Verstappen.

If Hamilton wins it will be his eighth title setting a new record and topping the all-time great Michael Schumacher but if Mr Verstappen wins it will end years of domination by Hamilton who has won six out of the last seven years.

BBC Breakfast spoke with former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard for analysis of the next race.

Mr Coulthard said: “The safe money and the momentum is definitely with Lewis Hamilton, so for all those Mercedes fans out there your dream eighth title could well be coming home tomorrow evening.

“But Max Vasterppen we know really doesn’t give a quarter doesn’t care of the fact that Lewis has gone for an eighth title, he’s got his sights firmly set on his first.

“And we know from the battles we’ve had this year that he is not prepared to lift, if there’s a gap he’s going for it.

“To separate the inner racer they are like looking in the mirror if that makes any sense they won’t give an inch to each other so I think there is a possibility there could be contact

“I’m not a gambler or a poker player but I just imagine if you were they don’t have tells, they’re both so centred, so confident you know they are exceptional at what they do.

“And to have two exceptional sportspeople competing for a world championship like this happens once every decade or even longer so I wish I could give you more but there is nothing to tell right now that they’re feeling any pressure that they are prepared to deviate from their plan that they have had all season long.

“And this is the first time since 1974 when I was a wee boy that we’ve had a championship all square going into the final race.”
