‘They are not confident!’ Farage delivers stunning reply after interviewing Lib Dem MP

LBC host and Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage stunned as he insisted Boris Johnson had more cards to play if a vote of no confidence is attempted. He added that Boris Johnson would still be able to make a success of Brexit if he had the “nerve”. As Mr Farage closed on an interview from Lib Dem MP Tom Brake he reflected on the known plots against Mr Johnson.

Mr Brake said: “What I would say, there are lots of things that are possible.

“But there is nothing at the moment that I think is probable.”

Mr Farage replied: “Well okay thank you very much indeed.

“That was Tom Brake, he is the Lib Dem MP for Carshalton and Wallington and he is their spokesperson for exiting the European Union.

“Actually they should rename him, for not exiting the European Union might be more accurate.

“I don’t know what you thought of the interview but let’s put it like this, they are not supremely confident that they can get a majority for this.

“What they all know is that actually, Boris Johnson holds more cards potentially than they do, if he has got the nerve to see this through.

“That is certainly my summation of where we are right at this moment in time.”

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has hinted at calling a vote of no confidence against Mr Johnosn when Parliament returns.

The Liberal Democrats have explained they would support this plan, however, tensions have risen between the two parties as Labour push to have Mr Corbyn as an interim Prime Minister.

Think Tank chief for Institute for Government Bronwen Maddox explained that even if Boris Johnson loses the vote of confidence he still has options.

She said: “If Boris Johnson lost a vote of no confidence there are two problems it seems to me.

“One is that he might not respect any alternative grouping that said we can form a government,

“Particularly if there is the kind of disarray we already saw in response to Jeremy Corbyn’s government.

“He also would have the ability to simply call a general election himself.

“Even if one wasn’t forced on him by the 14 day period of that.

“So he doesn’t entirely lose room for manoeuvre if that happened if it got to that point.”
