There may have been eighth Government Christmas party with MoD staff

The Ministry of Defence may have held a Christmas party with pizza and alcohol while Brits were not allowed to see loved ones last year.

The Government is still reeling from accusations of a secret lockdown party at Number 10 Downing Street on December 18, 2020.

Boris Johnson has repeatedly denied the gathering happened, despite leaked footage showing his then press secretary joking about a cheese and wine event with no social distancing.

Allegations of several other rule-breaking parties have since come to light, with the most recent claim bringing the number up to eight, according to the Byline Intelligence Team.

The MoD hosted a party for military personnel who had helped with the country’s vaccination programme on December 9 last year, the investigative journalism group reported.

The gathering supposedly offered pizza and booze at Skipton House – a building in Elephant and Castle, south London, which is usually occupied by Department of Health and Social Care staff.

It is unclear how many people attended the alleged party, but some 30 military workers had been working there at the time.

The MoD told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have been made aware of reports of a post-shift gathering of a MOD team working off-site, away from the department, in support of the NHS vaccination programme last year. The Chain of Command will be asked to investigate.’

While the prime minister has not been accused of visiting the ‘drinks and canapés’ held for the staff, the then education secretary Gavin Williamson supposedly did, the Mirror reported.

There are five other alleged parties which are not currently being investigated.

But the Conservative Party has confirmed an event organised by Shaun Bailey’s mayoral campaign was held in the party’s Westminster headquarters on December 14th – while London was under Tier Two restrictions.

Originally outed by The Times, 25 Tories supposedly wore ‘festive hats’ at the ‘raucous bash’ where a door was apparently broken.

The Conservative Party admitted the ‘unauthorised social gathering’ took place and insisted ‘formal disciplinary action’ would take place.
