The underrated seaside town named UK’s worst – but rock legend lives there

New research has revealed the UK’s “worst” seaside town – and a famous rock star counts themselves as one of its residents.

The embarrassing award was given to a South Coast town which is known for its ‘birdman’ competitions, and is also home to a controversial holiday resort.

Which? has recently updated its much-loved list of the country’s best and worst UK seaside towns, with Bognor Regis propping up the table, taking over from Worthing, reports SussexLive.

Bognor Regis was given “insufficient” in seven out of the eight categories that the survey considered. These included beaches, seafront/pier, food and drink, tourist attractions and scenery. Shopping, value for money and peace and quiet were also measured.

Overall, it scored 49 percent, tying it with Skegness as the UK’s worst.

Bognor Regis residents include Robert Smith, guitarist and singer of The Cure. The band had a string of hits including Boys Don’t Cry and Friday I’m in Love.
