A stunning beach named one of the UK’s most beautiful offers a near-uninterrupted walk across several miles of a picturesque coastline, turtles during the summer, and has hundreds of five-star reviews.

Wales is known – like most other areas on the British Isles – for its inclement weather during both the winter and summer, especially recently, with storms having blown over the nation on their way to England.

But the home nation has a scattering of stunning beaches that give the impression of a more tropical climate.

Among them is Harlech Beach in Gwynedd, where people can find golden sands and even a castle backdrop.

The beach has charmed hundreds of visitors, some so much that they have dubbed it the country’s best.

Editors at The Beach Guide, a site that has reviewed 199 beaches across the UK, asked its users to pick the best Wales has to offer.

They chose Harlech Beach thanks to its four miles of glittering sands, views of the Snowdonia mountain range and grassy dunes.

People who pick the location for a walk can find the Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve at its north end and Shell Island to the south.

In the summer, people can find leatherback turtles on Harlech’s shores, where they feast on local jellyfish.

The local sights have charmed hundreds of visitors, many of whom have given Harlech Beach top marks on review sites.

On The Beach Guide, the beach has a 4.2-star rating from 116 reviews.

One reviewer praised its “miles of sand and gently sloping seabed” and remembered the “views of the castle one way and the mountains the other”.

Another said the stretch of coastline was an “outstanding natural beautiful beach”.

Harlech has gained several hundred more reviews on TripAdvisor, where it has a solid five-star rating from 640 reviewers.

Among the many stunning reviews left by users on the platform was one calling the beach the “most beautiful beach on earth”, with another adding: “The beach is exactly how a beach should be!”
