The pretty town home to the Beckhams who plan to expand sprawling grounds
The lively market town of Chipping Norton and the surrounding area is a rural retreat David and Victoria Beckham call home.
The footballing legend and fashion designing former Spice Girl live in a £12million Cotswolds mansion, with the couple recently gaining permission to convert a barn at their Grade II-listed property into offices.
A picturesque property, it features in the Manchester United icon’s Netflix documentary, during which he says: “I wanted a place where we could escape. As soon as I get into the countryside.”
Known as “Chippy” to locals, Chipping Norton itself is famed for its bustling town centre, choice of eateries, lido and theatre.
Jeremy Clarkson‘s Diddly Squat Farm Shop is also just outside the town in nearby Chadlington.

Whistlers Restaurant in Middle Row describes itself as a “hidden gem” in the Cotswolds and has two AA rosettes for culinary excellence awarded in 2022 and 2023.
Chef Nathan Phelps, whose career started at Michelin-starred Lovells, prepares classic cuisine using modern techniques, “exceptional ingredients” and “pure, clean” flavours, according to the restaurant’s website.
Out of a total of 607 Tripadvisor reviews, 424 rate the venue as excellent, with one reviewer commending Whistlers “incredible” food.
Thai Shire, in Horsefair, is a Thai, Malaysian restaurant which is also highly commended by reviewers on Tripadvisor.
One review, posted on the platform by Yassos9 from Oxfordshire, says: “It never disappoints.”

Not far from Chipping Norton is Daylesford Farm, which stocks organic fruit and veg harvested from its market garden.
The venue also boasts a delicatessen, organic wines and meals freshly prepared on the premises to take home.
At the heart of the farm lies Bamford Wellness Spa which offers treatments as well as mind and body classes among what is describes as “state of the art” facilities.
Shopping-wise, Tickittyboo Children’s Boutique became an instant favourite among Chipping Norton locals when it opened in 2013, according to Cotswolds.com.
Beehive, situated in the High Street, is an emporium of home and lifestyle products which is also recommended by the same publication.

Hyde & Home, located in Topside, offers an “eclectic” mix of gifts and accessories which Cotswolds.com says would make ideal presents for loved ones.
There is a range of accommodation in the town centre, including The Fox, Crown & Cushion Hotel, The Kings Arms Hotel and Premier Inn.
At the top end of the market, luxuryhotelsguide.com recommends The Crown Inn at Enstone, The Stables, which is about four miles outside Chipping Norton, and Cotswolds Hotel & Spa.
Dovecote Cotswolds Cottages also offers accommodation, some of which is self-catering.
