A Lake District hotel has made headlines after introducing an interesting incentive to holidaymakers.

Welcoming dogs into their rooms, Lakeside Hotel and Spa has launched its new Very Important Pooch (VIP) card – which gives dogs and their owners additional privileges and benefits when staying at the hotel.

The free card has been introduced by bosses wishing to offer a “plethora of poochie pleasures” to visitors, reports Lancashire Live. This includes a doggy breakfast of sausages in the morning.

“We started welcoming man’s best friend at Bagden Hall and Charingworth Manor more than eight years ago,” explained Classic Lodges, which owns the hotel. “Both these hotels could offer the right rooms for both the owners and their four-legged friends.

“As the popularity of owners holidaying with their dogs has continued to increase, so we continued to add more of our hotels over the years. Now each Classic Lodges hotel has a number of dedicated dog-friendly rooms, these rooms have been chosen for their location, size and access to each hotel’s grounds. So why not take a break and bring your dog along too!”

Unlike rewards and points cards, you don’t have to wait to start being eligible for Classic treats, the company said.

As part of the new package, dogs and their guests will receive:

  • A collapsible dog bowl to keep
  • Harringtons Fresh Bake Treats
  • Doggy breakfast each morning
  • Information on local walks and dog-friendly places to visit.

On top of this, dogs and their human companions will also receive advance notice of Classic Lodges’ seasonal leisure offers as well as exclusive member and voucher offers.

Ben Mayou, general manager at Lakeside Hotel and Spa, said the hotel is pleased to further build on its dog-friendly offering: “We’re excited to offer our Very Important Pooch card – and there seems to be no time better than the present.

“Dogs are more a part of family experiences than ever – hoteliers that don’t encourage residents to bring their pooches will be left behind.

“Classic Lodges is thrilled to accommodate dogs that come along with our customers without compromising our promise of luxury and the highest standards of hospitality.”
