The full list of 52 Wilko stores set to close after rescue deal fails

More than 50 branches of Wilko are set to close after administrators were called in and a rescue deal failed.

The chain brought in administrators to oversee the insolvency last month and many branches have been pre-emptively hosting closing down sales.

On Tuesday, rivals B&M bought up to 51 branches as part of a £13 million deal – but despite this there are still 52 other branches that are set to shut.

Administrators admitted it’s possible that further shops could close, and all staff working at the affected shops will be made redundant, Sky News reports.

Edward Williams, joint administrator at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: ‘In the absence of viable offers for the whole business, very sadly store closures and redundancies of team members from those stores are now necessary.

‘The loss of these stores will be felt not only by the team members who served them with such dedication, including through the uncertainty of recent weeks, but also the communities which they have been a part of.’

Now the full list of Wilko branches which will close has been published.
