Tesco puts one-item limit on essentials to stop stockpilers
Tesco has started to put a one-item limit on essentials at some of its Express stores in order to stop stockpilers.
Since the coronavirus outbreak, Tesco and many other supermarkets in Britain have been forced to put restrictions in place due to widespread panic-buying.
Last week, Tesco implemented a three-item limit on all products in their stores to ensure products remained available to customers throughout the day.
But some of its Express stores have now reduced that limit to just one item each of essentials such as milk, bread, eggs and toilet roll.

According to The Times, one Tesco Express store in Walthamstow had a sign on some shelves which read: ‘To help give everyone access to essential items this product is limited to only 1 per customer.’
Tesco has not ruled out putting stricter measures in place across Britain but the company insists it is reliant on feedback from individual stores.
Tesco said in a statement: ‘This is a fluid situation. Our ability to forecast and understand demand is very difficult right now.
‘We are reliant on stores giving updates on what is happening in their local areas and they would be working to understand how best to get products to customers.’
Earlier this week, Tesco announced that online shoppers are limited to 80 items per order.
Meanwhile, stores across the UK have been faced with large queues due to new social distancing restrictions.
The amount of customers in stores have been limited in order to stop crowding, while people in queues are being asked to stand two metres apart.
Many 24-hour stores have also been closing at 10pm and re-opening at 6am in order to allow staff to re-stock shelves.
