Teens 'put superglue in hand sanitiser bottle and offered it outside shop'

A group of teenagers outside a supermarket have apparently been offering squirts from a hand sanitiser bottle which actually contained superglue.

Shopper Kathy Smith said the boys were stood outside a Morrisons supermarket in Bradford on Monday evening.

She said they were approaching different people in turn, offering them hand sanitiser – but she sensed something wasn’t right.

‘The lad approached me showing me the bottle of “sanitiser” asking if I would like a free pump,’ she said.

‘He was eagerly waiting for me to hold my hand out with a massive smile on his face.

‘They all started to laugh. I asked, “What’s in the bottle?” He said “sanitiser” while laughing.’

She said she almost accepted and has no doubts the boy with the bottle would have squirted it on her hands had she held them out – but she stopped short after hearing them laugh.

Kathy added: ‘I heard one of the lads laughing and he said: “F*****g superglue.” They all walked off laughing when I said, “I’ll pass, thanks.”‘

She said she was relieved to avoid the trap outside the shop in Five Lane Ends, adding: ‘I’d have been in Bradford Royal Infirmary all night.’
