Teenagers dump concrete on high-speed train line putting lives at risk

Passengers’ lives were put at risk when three teenage boys dumped huge blocks of concrete on a high-speed train line.

A terrified driver was forced to battle at the controls as the train smashed into the blocks near Ridley Lane in Croston, Lancashire, on 14 August at 5.20pm.

He managed to keep the train on the tracks but said that if it had been crammed with passengers when it crashed into the debris, it could have been derailed and lives could have been lost.

Police today released CCTV pictures of three young suspects they are on the hunt for.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: ‘Placing items on the tracks is extremely hazardous.

‘Those involved are endangering their lives and could possibly cause severe damage to trains.’

It is the sixth time concrete has been placed on rail lines in the area, police said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 440 of 14/08/19.
