Swooping seagulls are so bad passengers are being warned to guard their food
Customers at a train station café are being warned to guard their food from ‘dive-bombing seagulls’, because there are no refunds for stolen sandwiches.
Terrorised train passengers are being targeted by the seagulls who swoop onto the platforms at Cardiff Central station.
The bird attacks have got so common, that a café at the station has been left with no other option but to issue a warning to customers, asking them to hold onto their food – because they can’t issue refunds.
A sign outside Upper Crust cafe at Cardiff Central station read: ‘Once the food is given to you, if a seagull takes it from you, there will be no refunds.
‘The seagulls don’t work for us.’
The sign was removed by rail bosses, however it has been widely shared on social media where scores of commuters have been sharing stories of their encounters with the seabirds.
One passenger said: ‘Seagulls are nuts at Cardiff Central station, one just flew off with a woman’s baguette that she had just bought.
‘I suddenly became extra protective of mine.’
The aggressive seabirds have been terrorising people across the country in recent weeks.
Transport for Wales said gulls can be aggressive birds, particularly when hunting for food.
A spokesman said: ‘Customers at train stations should be mindful of this while eating in outdoor areas.
‘We have reminded retailers at Cardiff Central of the importance to communicate with customers clearly and bilingually wherever possible.
‘As such, we requested this particular sign was removed.’
