Sussex schooling: The surprise language that insiders say Harry and Meghan are learning

English is one of the official languages in Botswana but the other is Setswana and it is a lingua franca in the country. Sources have told The Daily Mirror that the couple are learning the language which also has official status in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Harry visited Botswana as part of the recent royal tour of Africa.

It is understood Harry has a deep emotional connection to the country which has influenced the decision to build a retreat there.

A source said: “They would love to build a traditional bush lodge, constructed by locals, bringing work and trade to the land.

“There has also been talk of a local school being built as well.

“Most importantly they want somewhere where they have complete privacy and will not be disturbed.”

The nation’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi has given approval to the plans.

Around five million people speak Setswana throughout the southern Africa region in which Botswana is located.

Speaking about Botswana, Harry previously said: “This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.”
