Storm Eunice live updates: Red alert across southern England as 110mph winds hit

Multiple weather warnings are in place as Storm Eunice sweeps across the UK today – with forecasters warning of winds of more than 100mph.

Rare ‘danger to life’ red weather warnings have been issued in London, the south-east and east of England, and south Wales.

In these areas, people have been urged to stay at home amid fears the storm today could be one of the country’s worst in 30 years.

Many schools not already out for half term have decided to close amid the potentially dangerous gusts.

Widespread travel disruption is expected on the roads and railways as high winds can lead to dangerous conditions.
