Brockhill, 28, murdered her partner Frankie Smith’s 16-month-old daughter Star Hobson by beating her senseless. Kath Goddard, defending Brockhill, told Bradford Crown Court yesterday how the woman was taken into hospital days before the trial.
The lawyer said her client had suffered three seizures and two cardiac arrests following a collapse in prison.
It’s believed she is in HMP Styal, a closed security jail in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
She had been unconscious there for an hour and 20 minutes and was later given CPR and intubated by doctors at hospital, it is understood.
But Brockhill, a boxer and bouncer, was anxious to not delay the start of the trial and discharged herself, reports Yorkshire Live.
Brockhill’s family has also been targeted as a result of her murder charge, Ms Goddard told the hearing.
One family member has been “subjected to an extremely violent assault” during which he sustained a skull fracture.
Other family members have also been subjected to violence, threats and intimidation, the lawyer added.
Ms Goddard said the family do not deserve the intimidation.
Brockhill was described by the toddler’s maternal grandmother as an “evil monster”.
Yvonne Smith said of her daughter’s partner: “I hope she rots in hell. She deserves everything she’s got and more.
“She’s ruined Frankie’s life and the life of our family and killed my granddaughter.
“I hope she stays in prison for the rest of her life. There are no words to describe what a disgusting human being she is.”
Frankie Smith – Star’s mum – was jailed for eight years for allowing Brockhill to kill her child.
