Shoppers queued “for hours” and shoved children as young as seven to get their hands on bottles of a £1.99 energy drink launched by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul.

Photographs showed shoppers waiting outside Aldis across the country today in the hope of getting bottles of Prime.

In one video, shared on Twitter, shoppers are seen dashing to grab the last of the bottles at a branch of Aldi.

A voice is heard shouting: “You’re only allowed one bottle of each by the way.”

The man, who took the video and shared it online, wrote: “Absolute carnage in Aldi… people trying to get hold of Prime.”

Aldi today introduced the drink as a Special Buy, one of its items in the middle aisles.  Bottles are on sale for £1.99 – more than £10 less than the usual retail price.

Within 11 minutes, one branch near Wigan was sold out, Manchester Evening News reports.

One parent there, who came to pick up a bottle for their child, said: “I came to get it for my son, I’m not going to drink it, it tastes like s***.”

Several other shoppers agreed with another adding “It’s madness, it’s just two Youtubers”

Student Kristina Sheppard, 19, captured a brief video from her local store in Sydenham, East London, as customers battled it out to get their hands on the limited edition drink.

Kristina, a PE and Sports Exercise Science student said: “I got there at around 7.45am and I took the video at 8.04am.

“It was just hectic. I didn’t push anyone, but there was a lot of pushing and shoving going on.

“I thought there was a limit of one bottle per flavour, but I saw people getting cases of them.

“There were parents pushing children. There were kids between the ages of 7 and 14, they were being pushed out of the way.

“One of the staff was shouting ‘parents, stop pushing the kids’. It was absolute carnage.

“I just got my bottles and left, I didn’t want to stick around much longer.”

Fans have been desperate to get their hands on the drink for weeks after it became a viral internet sensation.  The drink is available in three flavours – Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime and Ice Pop.

In Yarm, North Yorkshire, some shoppers queued for hours – but still missed out on grabbing the drink.

“All those people disappointed. [They’ve] queued up this morning for two hours and they couldn’t even get in,” one shopper said.

Photographs also showed a packed store in Gravesend, Kent, where families were scrambling for the beverage.

When a Grimsby Live reporter searched his area for a bottle, he found empty shelves everywhere.

Another parent, who heard about the sale online and saw it as an opportunity to pay a reasonable price for the drink said: “I saw it on TikTok last night that they’ll be selling it for £1.99. I’ve seen some places that were selling it for £12 a pop.”

The drink itself is made up of 10 per cent coconut water, containing electrolytes, B vitamins and BCAAs. It has zero sugar and around 20 calories per bottle.

In a statement, Aldi said: “The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on December 29. The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!

“The supermarket is expecting high demand so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy the product.”
