Speedboat killer 'planning wedding from prison – despite being married already'

A woman has claimed she is planning to marry ‘Speedboat killer’ Jack Shepherd, and that the couple are planning their wedding.

Maiko Tchanturidze, 25, met Shepherd while he was on the run in Georgia over the death of his Tinder date Charlotte Brown.

She says he writes to her daily from prison and that they have discussed starting a family – even though he is already married.

‘I am going to wait for him,’ she told the Daily Mirror. ‘I just hope he will be released as soon as possible.

‘We have spoken about marriage and having children. We will see what the future will bring for us.’

She said he wooed her in Tbilsi after they met in a park as she walked her bichon frise dog.

But he kept the truth from her about why he was really living in Georgia for ten months, only confessing the truth in a video call two days before handing himself into police.

Maiko told the paper: ‘After he explained everything and after I read about the court case and everything written about him, I honestly believe it was a tragic accident. Of course it is terrible that Charlotte died, but it was an accident.’

Charlotte died on a first date with Shepherd after they had gone to the Shard for dinner and he then took her out in his speedboat on the Thames at more than double the speed limit.

It is believed he allowed her to take over the steering and she then hit a submerged log which capsized the boat, throwing them both into the water in December 2015.

Shepherd survived, but his date was found unconscious and unresponsive, and later died in hospital.

The web-developer was convicted of manslaughter by gross negligence as the boat was found to have faulty steering, a disconnected kill cord and life jackets hidden away.

He was jailed for six years, and an attempt to appeal against the conviction failed.

Maiko says she hopes she will be able to live with him again in Georgia, but that if not she is prepared to move to the UK to be with him.

However, he already married someone else just months after Charlotte’s death, so the couple face another obstacle.

His new partner says she wants to visit him in jail, but her initial visa application was refused.

She told the paper: ‘I am worried about him. Prison is not where he wants to spend his life, but he is not complaining. We both are suffering.’
