Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, is self-isolating after coming into contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID-19, it has been confirmed. The hard-working royal is understood to have no symptoms but is acting in keeping with Government guidelines. Sophie carried out a string of royal engagements in recent days and could have come into contact with COVID-19 at any of them.

While the Countess is not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms she is self-isolating as a precaution.
Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer tweeted on Friday: “Royal aides say earlier this week the Countess of Wessex came into contact with someone who has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
“Sophie is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home.”

While Sophie and Prince Edward do not have their own social media accounts, the Royal Family’s official page often tweets about their royal activities.
This week Sophie paid visits to a school, and the national space centre according to the Royal Family’s Twitter page.
Sophie also took part in the Virgin Money London Marathon at the weekend where she joined a runner from disability charity Mecap’s team for part of their route around Great Windsor Park.
