SNP candidate jeered after getting his OWN constituency wrong in humiliating video
The SNP candidate, who was the MP for East Dunbartonshire until 2017, named the wrong constituency during the local hustings. The crowd jeered after the apparent mistake, before John Nicholson continued with his campaign speech. He began: “Please trust me with your vote on December 12.
“As you know, only the SNP can beat the Tories here in East Dunbartonshire.
“And with all due respect to my Lib Dem.“
The crowd then interrupted with jeers, before he continued: “I will work hard for you.
“I will always listen, and I won’t let you down.”
The footage was shared on Twitter, captioned: “@MrJohnNicolson, who was the MP for East Dunbartonshire before losing to @joswinson in 2017, appears to have forgotten that he has switched constituency to Ochil and South Perthshire for this election.”
The comments follow SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon giving a speech on Wednesday, in which she lashed out at Jeremy Corbyn over his “neutral” stance on Brexit.
Speaking from Glasgow, she said: “Jeremy Corbyn, incredibly, says that he is neutral on the issue of Leave or Remain.
“That means he is neutral on job losses, cuts to living standards and the erosion of our rights.
“And, of course, he would be happy to sit back and see Scotland taken out of the EU, even if there is a majority for Remain in Scotland but not in the UK.
“The truth is that Brexit will dominate Westminster politics for years and years to come, and Scotland will pay a heavy price for the Tories Brexit obsession and Labour’s neutrality.
“Or to give it its proper expression, Labour’s woeful lack of leadership.”
