Conservative blogger Mahyar Tousi has called out “woke mob” for the “astonishing” abuse levelled at Prince Philip on social media. Mr Tousi told talkRADIO hot Patrick Christys that supporters of SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon and Labour leader Keir Starmer were the biggest culprits, even though the two party leaders paid tribute to the royal. This comes after Prince Philip, who Queen Elizabeth II’s husband of 73 years, died at Windsor Castle at the age of 99 yesterday.

Mr Tousi, who is one of Britain’s leading pro-Brexit YouTubers, said: “There were a lot of issues we saw on social media yesterday on Twitter.

“Political leaders came together. Keir Starmer, even Nicola Sturgeon, most political leaders paid their respects.

“But, the replies to those tweets from their supporters, that was astonishing.”

Mr Christys questioned whether there were a lot of people being “insensitive” about the Duke of Edinburgh’s passing on social media.

Mr Tousi responded: “Yesterday, I decided not to make any political content.

“I thought for one day we could put away political differences and ideology but some people just can’t take a break.

“These are people who on the Twitter bios have #bekind, or #love, but they were mocking a grandfather, who was a veteran, who fought the Nazis.

“Even though he had privilege, he had to sacrifice his ambitions, his personal life. He also used his privilege to help others.”

Prince Philip: Prince Charles speaks following father’s passing

Earlier in the interview, the YouTube star condemned two men he filmed as they prepared to pop the cork on a bottle of Prosecco outside Buckingham Palace in the wake of Prince Philip’s passing.

In a clip that sparked fury when shared online, one of the men can be heard saying they were there to “celebrate” the Duke of Edinburgh’s death.

He told Mr Christys: “There were a few people, the usual suspects that you would expect to turn up with their bottles of champagne and trying to get attention.”

Mr Tousi, who confronted the men, continued: “It was absolutely disgusting, it was unnecessary what these people were doing.

“Luckily they didn’t escalate they didn’t do anything too crazy.

“But I think they realized that while they are spoiled middle-class anti-monarchy who just want to cause trouble.

“They knew from the vibe that was not the right time, they knew that the crowd would be completely against them.”
