‘She’s ABYSMAL!’ – Theresa May comes under INCENDIARY attack from Tory Anne Widecombe
Despite being offered four Brexit options, MPs once again failed to come to a majority decision in what was the second round of indicative votes. Speaking on BBC Newsnight, the former Tory MP put together a stunning attack on the current political class in the UK. With no clear indication of the UK’s departure from the EU, the chances of departing the union on April 12 without a deal have suddenly become more likely.
In an impassioned speech, Ms Widecombe said: “We’ve got the worst Prime Minister since Anthony Eden.
“We’ve got the worst leader of the opposition in the entire history of the Labour party.
“And we’ve got the worst Parliament since Oliver Cromwell.”
In order to try and salvage the current Brexit predicament, Theresa May will hold a cabinet meeting where she will try to thrash out a clear and unified course of action.
The Prime Minister has brought her agreement back to the Commons three times and will look to do so one more time in order to try and leave the EU with a deal.
With time ticking, however, MPs have started to fear that the UK will shift ever closer to a softer Brexit.
While admitting that she would support a no deal Brexit, Ms Widecombe insisted that Brexiteers must now get “realistic” if they want to deliver a passable Brexit.
The former MP also claimed that Brexiteer MPs must get behind Mrs May’s deal as it is the best of “several bad options”.
Although Parliament had voted against a no deal Brexit earlier this year, 170 MPs, including 10 Cabinet ministers, backed a a letter calling for Mrs May to leave the Eu without a deal.
Treasure Secretary Liz Truss said: “I think we are well-prepared for No Deal.
“I don’t have any fear of No Deal.”
The UK is set to depart from the EU on April 12 without a deal unless Mrs May can get her Withdrawal Agreement through Parliament or requests a longer extension.
