Sheep owner 'heartbroken' after finding four of his ewes decapitated with sword

A sheep owner says he is ‘upset’ after finding four of his ewes’ decapitated heads in a field.

Chris Tilt, from Bromsgrove, West Midlands, said the bodies had been taken and three other ewes were stolen – and another died from stress.

West Mercia Police confirmed the heads had been cut off with some kind of sword in the attack in Dodford, near Bromsgrove.

The 29-year-old told the BBC: ‘I’m heartbroken and upset that innocent animals have been brutally killed.

‘Why do something like that? Especially with a sword and to leave the heads as well.’

Chris keeps the sheep as a hobby and describes them as his ‘pets’.

He now plans to hide the rest of his sheep in a secret location, over fears more of them could be stolen.

Police are carrying out further inquiries after attending the scene where the sheep were stolen.

Inspector Richard Field said: ‘It’s had a ripple effect around the farming community in Dodford because it’s such a rare event. They are now concerned it’s going to happen to them.

‘I appeal to anyone who was driving in and around the area of Dodford, and saw anything unusual, to contact us.’

A beheaded cat was left out for children to see at a playground in London in a ‘deliberate’ act two months ago.

The bloodied head of the animal was ‘very carefully’ placed at the bottom of one of the slides at the Homerton Grove Adventure Playground, in Hackney.

The grisly discovery was made by a staff member as she was opening up the park for the afternoon on April 24.
