Mr Johnson made the analogy during his speech Confederation of British Industry (CBI) annual conference on Monday. In it, he hailed the creativity of the UK for creating the popular children’s TV programme. Now exported across the world, he claimed “no Government or civil servant” could come up with the TV show.
Lashing out at the Prime Minister, Mr Blackford, leader of the SNP in Westminster, pushed his case for Scotland to leave the UK.
Commenting on social media, he said: “Scotland can do better than this – independence.”
In his speech, Mr Johnson said: “Who would have believed that a pig that looks like a Picasso-like hairdryer, a pig that was rejected by the BBC, would now be exported to 180 countries with theme parks both in America and China as well as in the New Forest?
“A business that’s worth at least £6billion to this country and counting.
“Now, I think that is pure genius, don’t you?
“No government in the world, no Whitehall civil servant would conceivably have come up with Peppa.”
The show was first broadcast in 2004 and follows a young pig, her parents and brother.
During his speech at the CBI, the Prime Minister also asked the audience who had been to the amusement park as he professed his love of his own trip.

In his 25-minute speech, the Prime Minister also said he expects workers to soon return to offices.
Despite fears over the high level of covid cases, Mr Johnson said “Mother Nature does not like working from home”.
He said: “There are sound evolutionary reasons why Mother Nature does not like working from home, so I prophesise people will come back.
“They will come back to the office and they will come back on the roads and in the rail.

“But people also want choice.”
In his own speech, Sir Keir Starmer said the Opposition was not attempting to re-run Brexit.
He said: “Labour is not planning a rematch.
“Brexit has happened and we’re not going to rejoin.
“But it is obvious that a poorly thought through Brexit is holding Britain back.
Sir Keir also attempted to mock the Prime Minister during his speech and claimed the Government is lacking leadership.
He said: “There is one further element, leadership.
“Trust matters in international negotiations.
“But with this Prime Minister, this ingredient is missing.
“Instead, what we get is a series of pantomime disputes which is no good for British business or for the British public, and no help at all as we tackle the task of remaking Britain.”
