Further CCTV footage shows the disturbing aftermath of the attack in the resort.
Towels, children’s flipflops, bags and chairs are scattered across the grassy area.
Increased police presence can be seen in the area, which has recorded a rise in drug-related violence in recent years.
But so far local authorities have not provided further details of a possible motive behind the shooting.
After the attack, the men destroyed the spa shop and took the security cameras before fleeing, officials said.
Mexican soldiers and police aided by a helicopter were searching for the gunmen.
Guanajuato, an agricultural and industrial hub, has been Mexico’s most violent state for years.
The Jalisco New Generation drug cartel has been fighting with criminal groups, including the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel, which is apparently backed by the Sinaloa cartel.
