Serving police officer and three-year-old child found dead at house

A serving policeman and a three-year-old child have been found dead at a home in a market town in Worcestershire.

In a statement West Mercia Police said they attended the house in Kidderminster following concerns for the welfare of a man and young child.

Officers arrived at Cairndhu Drive at around 9.20am and found a 39-year-old member of their own force and a child, aged 3, had died.

West Mercia Police added: ‘We have launched an investigation into the deaths, which are currently being treated as unexplained. It is with great sadness that we share this news today.

‘Whilst the circumstances surrounding the deaths are not fully known, this is clearly a tragic incident.

‘Our deepest condolences are with the officer’s family, friends and colleagues.’

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to a medical emergency at the property at 9.21am.

A spokesperson added: ‘Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.

‘On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a young child.

‘Sadly, it quickly became apparent that neither patient could be saved and they were confirmed dead at the scene.’
