Schoolgirl, 15, rushed to hospital after being ‘seriously injured’ in horror car crash

The 15-year-old girl was hit at around 7pm on 11 February on New Edinburgh Road in Uddingston. Emergency services rushed to the accident and treated the teenager at the scene. 

An ambulance then took her to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment to her injuries.

She was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, with medics describing her condition as serious.

No information regarding the identity of the girl has been released.

The Police have since launched an investigation into the incident and have urged anyone who might have information to come forward.

It is believed the girl was hit by a black car, the Sun reported.

The circumstances of the crash are currently unknown with the police appealing for any information.

Officers have urged anyone who witnessed the scene or who was in the area at the time to contact the police.

Other drivers who may have dashcam footage at the time of the incident are also urged to come forward.

Constable Andrew Coutts, of Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“I am asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch.

“I would also ask if there are any other motorists with possible dashcam footage or anyone with information that may help with our investigation to contact police.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3145 of February 11.
