School closures after snow, ice and fog sparks chaos across UK

Thousands are waking up to snow this morning – with yellow warnings of ice, fog and snow still in place for much of the UK.

Brits have been advised to stay safe while travelling into work and school – that is, of course, if your child’s school is still open.

Many children in London, Essex, Gloucestershire, Devon, Cornwall, East Sussex, Hertfordshire and other spots have been told to stay home today.

It comes after snowfall on Sunday evening forced airports to close their runways and left drivers struggling.

Four children were taken to hospital in critical condition after being rescued from a lake in Solihull in the West Midlands on Sunday afternoon after falling through ice.
