Sarah Ferguson ‘wants to host chat show’ to help Andrew pay for Royal Lodge

Sarah Ferguson calls Prince Andrew a ‘good, kind man’

Sarah Ferguson has offered to help ex-husband Prince Andrew with Royal Lodge bills, covering the £2million ($2.45million) needed for renovation costs, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of York plans to do this by becoming a chat show host in America, reports The Daily Beast.

Veteran TV producer Amy Rosenblum said she and Sarah had a catch-up in NYC last month.

The two met at The Regency Hotel, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, to revisit the past and talk about the possibility of collaborating.

She said: “Sarah told me, ‘I want a show! I want a show!'”

She explained how this all came about, adding: “I did a pilot with her about 15 years ago. We were up against Ellen DeGeneres and ultimately they went with Ellen. But Sarah was really good when we did the pilot. We have been friends since then.”

An industry insider provided some details on how this might work, saying: “Fergie could reasonably expect to earn around £2million a year, but that figure would go up considerably should her show be a hit.”

It’s predicted the show would be in the US, with the insider adding: “She’s always gone down well in America. She’s never been too proud to promote the heck out of anything, be it one of her books or WeightWatchers. Americans respect someone who hustles

If this were to work out, it wouldn’t be the first time Sarah performed on American TV.

In 1997, she was approached by WeightWatchers to be a spokesperson for the weight-loss program, which she agreed to, starring in commercials where she deliverered payback lines like, “It’s harder than having a thinner mother. It’s harder then being called ‘The Duchess of Pork.’ It’s the hardest thing in the world, staying on a diet.”

Also, she’s guest-hosted for ABC’s The View, CNN’s Larry King Live and acted as a special correspondent for NBC’s Today show.

In 2010, she talked about having her own show and the presmise, saying, “I want it to be a show that is me on the streets. I want it me going around middle America. I want to go out and see what the needs are, and then the audience has to challenge me … to go and fix the school in Boise or get another restaurant in Allentown.”

Sarah and Prince Andrew divorced in 1997, but are still friends and both live at Royal Lodge. Andrew moved into the Royal Lodge in 2004, with Ferguson following in 2008.
