The Prince posted an image on his Instagram account showing himself and his siblings meeting NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong just months after the successful lunar landing in 1969. The image caption read: “to mark #MoonLanding50, here’s a photo of Prince Edward, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne, meeting Neil Armstrong at Buckingham Palace. 

“The astronauts of the Apollo 11 Space Mission visited London as part of a 22 nation world tour in October 1969. 

“In the background, The Duke of Edinburgh welcomes Janet Armstrong and The Queen meets Colonel Michael Collins, who orbited the command model.” 

The image has been liked on Instagram more than 9,500 times, but many were keen to spot the special like from Andrew’s ex, Sarah Ferguson. 

Despite splitting in 1992, the couple still remain good friends and have been snapped together at a variety of events including the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston in May. 

Both have active social media accounts and make regular updates on family life. Sarah Ferguson even posts regular pictures of Andrew on her page, including one of him smiling for a birthday post back in February. 

Ms Ferguson, dubbed by the public as Fergie, attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding at Windsor Castle last May and was present as daughter Eugenie married log term partner Jack Brooksbank. 

Due to their close friendship, Andrew and Fergie have long been subject to rumours that their relationship would be reignited decades after having split, but the pair have refuted these claims on more than one occasion. 

The pair visited Bahrain together on a private trip hosted by the Bahrain Crown Prince, with the trip prompting ITV’s royal editor, Chris Ship to comment that the pair were back together. 

He tweeted: “Royal relationship back on. Prince Andrew and Fergie back together more than 20 years after they divorced.” 

The couple have always boasted about being the world’s happiest unmarried couple after the pair split due to the publication of private images of Ms Ferguson getting her toes kissed while on holiday with financial advisor, John Bryan. The images were leaked six years after she married the Queen’s son.

But with the pair getting closer in recent years, experts are hinting that a reunion could yet be on the cards. 

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a royal source said:  “The smart money is on them getting married again after the Duke of Edinburgh passes away. 

“Phillip has never forgiven Sarah for her past indiscretions, but the Queen has always just wanted her son to be happy.”
