The Duchess of York wrote a brief message to mark Prince Andrew’s 60th birthday. Taking to both Twitter and Instagram, Sarah, also known as Fergie by fans and family, said: “Happy 60th Birthday to Andrew”.  

The former wife of Prince Andrew attached to her message a picture of the Duke of York, showing the royal in a domestic environment. 

The black and white snap depicts the Queen’s son sitting on a couch as he looks out of a window and pet a dog. 

In her Instagram post, Fergie didn’t disclose who or where the photograph was taken. 

This birthday message has been received better by social media users than the one shared by the official account of the Royal Family.   

One supporter of the couple, who divorced in 1996 following the notorious toe-sucking scandal involving Fergie and a Texan tycoon, wrote on Instagram: “You guys seriously should get back together!!! #britainsbestcouple” 

Another said: “Happy birthday Andrew may all your dreams come true xx” 

A third added: “Happy birthday to Prince Andrew!! Much love for him.” 

However, some royal fans criticised Fergie’s decision to publicly celebrate the birthday of the Duke.
