Sarah Ferguson branded ‘hot mess’ as latest outfit fails to impress royal fans

Sarah Ferguson discusses the importance of Christmas

Sarah Ferguson’s latest outfit has been slammed by royal fashion fans as a “hot mess”, however that did not seem to stop her enjoying herself as she was pictured out and about last week.

The Duchess of York may not be an official working member of the Royal Family since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996, but she is still often pictured attending engagements as part of her work as a philanthropist, podcaster and author.

Fergie wore a Luisa Spagnoli wool cape in bottle green, priced at £418 (€485), which she teamed with sheer tights, a black skirt and jumper worn underneath, and her Geox Respira black and gold lace up boots for her visit to the Lancashire Police Constabulary to meet their service dogs and horses.

While she may have delighted in meeting the animals, Instagram users slammed her combination of clothing, with one writing: “Throw the boots away. Just a hot mess.”

Another agreed, commenting: “The green cape looks gorgeous on her. Unfortunately her trusty black skirt paired with the fugly boots can’t save the look.”

Some fans had more constructive criticism, with one saying: “How good would this outfit look with simple long black slacks? The boots might even be ok if they were mostly covered by pants. And no problems with the sheer hose. The cape is good but spoiled by the skirt/hose/boots.”

Another added: “She must really love that skirt which is a nice skirt but not with the more casual style of the cape and the let’s go to the club boots. She simply doesn’t know how to put things together but always looks happy.”

Fergie shared details of her visit on her Instagram page, writing: “During my recent visit to Burnley, I was delighted to have the opportunity to meet some of the wonderful police dogs and horses of Lancashire Police Constabulary who serve the community alongside their officers.
