Sarah Ferguson and Andrew talk royal babies already in Beatrice engagement statement

Doting parents Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have published a statement to congratulate their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, 31, on her engagement. They said they were “extremely happy” of the news that Beatrice will wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi next year and they even started to discuss the prospect of royal babies. In an Instagram post shared on the Duke of York’s account, their joint statement said: “We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”

The pair became engaged while on a recent holiday in Italy, according to the post.

The statement shared to the Duke’s 215,000 followers read: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

“Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020.

“Further details will be announced in due course.⁣”

The post was accompanied by two photographs of the couple, taken by Beatrice’s younger sister Eugenie.

In addition to the official statement announcing the engagement, the Duke and Duchess of York said: “We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride.

“We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man.

“We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”

Mr Mozzi’s parents, Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi also congratulated the newly engaged couple and said: “We are truly delighted about Edoardo’s and Beatrice’s engagement.

“The family have known Beatrice for most of her life.

“Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see.

“They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship.”
