The wool hat was discovered by a passerby this morning around 11am and looks similar to the one worn by Ms Everard the night she disappeared. But the Metropolitan Police have since confirmed it does not believe it is linked to the disappearance of Sarah Everard.

The 33-year-old was last spotted on CCTV near Clapham Common at around 9.30pm on March 3.

She had spent the evening with friends and left the home using the rear gate on Leathwaite Road at around 9pm.

Sarah was seen walking alone on the A205 Poynders Road, from the junction with Cavendish Road, in the direction of Tulse Hill.

MyLondon visited Poynders Road in south London today and said there was no police activity on the road but missing posters were stuck to road signs and lamp posts.

Police said they are keeping an open mind about the disappearance of Ms Everard. Family members have said they are “desperate” to bring her home.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin said: “I would like to stress that there is no information at this stage to suggest anything untoward may have happened to Sarah.

“The focus remains on returning her home to her family safe and well and that is our number one priority.

“I would like to thank Sarah’s family and friends, the local community and members of the public for their help to raise awareness of this appeal and for coming forward with information.

“I would urge anybody who has information or noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact us if you haven’t already.”

Police search teams and volunteers continued to search for Ms Everard over the weekend.

Police have asked members of the public who may have been in the area last Wednesday to check their dashcam footage.

A CCTV image from a doorbell camera of Ms Everard is understood to have been given to police to help them with their investigation.

Sarah Everard was last seen wearing a green rain jacket, navy blue trousers with a white diamond pattern, and turquoise and orange trainers.

She is described as 5ft 4in, slim build and blonde hair.

She is also thought to have been wearing green earphones and a white beanie hat.
