Samantha Markle says ‘something is missing’ in Harry and Meghan
Samantha Markle reacts to Harry’s claims about father
Samantha Markle said she noticed something was “missing” in Meghan Markle’s eyes when she married Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged half-sister said the couple’s relationship “didn’t seem real to me” as she discussed watching the royal pair get married on TV.
Samantha, her brother Thomas Markle Jr and her father Thomas Markle Sr did not attend the ceremony in 2018. Meghan only had her mum Doria Ragland representing her family at the nuptials.
Markle has repeatedly challenged Meghan’s claims about the family since her marriage to the Duke of Sussex, and criticised her heavily for refusing to meet with their father.
In a new Channel7 Spotlight interview, Samantha said: “When I watched the royal wedding, I was watching her and I was watching Harry.

“And there was something, in my opinion, missing in their eyes. It didn’t seem real to me.”
She went on to suggest Harry and Meghan share a “toxic” relationship and that the pair are “really unhealthy for each other.”
Samantha alleged the pair have been “enabling” each other’s negative traits over the years.
Asked whether the relationship had improved Meghan’s conduct, she said: “I think it’s made it worse because I think he has the personality profile that perfectly enables someone who is an alleged narcissist.
“Whether it’s PTSD or his seeming neediness over his mother, his history of being somewhat rebellious in his own life as the younger child in his own family, competing with his brother William and never being happy.
“He has a similar personality in not only the rebellion, relying on substances to avoid accountability and real growth and responsibility.”
Samantha added: “I think he’s enabled her, I don’t think they’re improving each other’s lives.”
Harry, however, has paid tribute to Meghan for pushing him to seek support from a therapist after experiencing years of struggle with his mental health.
In a series of interviews since stepping down from his royal role, the Duke admitted he spent years coming to terms with his mother’s death and relied on drugs to cope with the pressure of royal life.
He told Oprah Winfrey: “I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling.”

In 2021, Harry claimed he finally caved into the suggestion he seeks support after one of his first arguments with Meghan in which he said he felt like he had “reverted back to 12-year-old Harry.”
Recounting his first meeting with his new therapist, he said: “I felt somewhat ashamed and defensive [when the therapist said that]. Like, “How dare you? You’re calling me a child”. And she goes, “No, I’m not calling you a child.
“‘I’m expressing sympathy and empathy for you for what happened to you when you were a child. You never processed it. You were never allowed to talk about it and all of a sudden now it’s coming up in different ways as projection’.
“That was the start of a learning journey for me. I became aware that I’d been living in a bubble within this family, within this institution and I was sort of almost trapped in a thought process or a mindset.”
Harry added: “I knew that if I didn’t do the therapy and fix myself that I was going to lose this woman who I could see myself spending the rest of my life with.”
