Sainsbury’s has warned shoppers that temporary travel bans on the UK due to Covid could cause them to run out of some food items in store.

The supermarket said that if the restrictions continue, ‘we will start to see gaps over the coming days on lettuce, some salad leaves, cauliflowers, broccoli and citrus fruit’, Sky News reports.

It comes after France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands banned travel from the UK on Sunday amid fears over a new strain of Covid.
